Assam Police Illuminates “Go Blue” in Solidarity for World Children’s Day:
The Assam Police wrapped up its impactful Child Rights Week campaign on World Children’s Day by participating in the “Go Blue” initiative, a global campaign championed by UNICEF to promote child rights worldwide. The campaign, observed globally on November 20, saw iconic landmarks across the globe bathed in blue light as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the cause.
The Assam Police Headquarters, along with SP Offices and Police Stations statewide, took part in the ‘Go Blue’ campaign, adorning themselves in shades of blue to signify their commitment to advancing and safeguarding the rights of all children. This visual representation echoed the police force’s dedication to ensuring justice for children who are victims of crime or find themselves in conflict with the law.
As the first responders in many situations involving children, the Assam Police emphasized its frontline role in shaping the trajectory of justice for young individuals. The ‘Go Blue’ campaign became a poignant platform for the police force to reiterate its unwavering dedication to championing child rights.
At the heart of this commitment lies the Sishu Mitra Programme, a flagship initiative of the Assam Police in collaboration with UNICEF and UTSAH Child Rights Org. This program, one of the largest Child Friendly Policing initiatives in the country, focuses on enhancing response mechanisms to ensure the protection of child rights throughout the state.
Harmeet Singh, IPS, Special DGP of Assam and Convenor of the Sishu Mitra Programme, extended warm wishes to all young ones on World Children’s Day. Singh highlighted the significant progress made under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in transforming child-friendly policing at the ground level. From infrastructure development to timely investigations, the Assam Police has made substantial strides to deliver justice for every child in the state.
The ‘Go Blue’ campaign serves as a powerful reminder that the Assam Police is not only an enforcer of the law but also a guardian of the rights and well-being of the youngest members of society. The participation in this global initiative reflects a collective effort to build a safer, more secure environment for children, aligning with the broader mission of creating a world where every child’s rights are respected and protected.
