Mumbai Police collects Rs 4 crore fine from maskless people in a month

Mumbai: A fine of Rs 4 crore have been collected from two lakh people by Mumbai Police in less than a month. People were found flouting Covid-19 norms by not roaming maskless despite the surge in new coronavirus cases.

Mumbai police spokesperson DCP S Chaitanya said, “Rs four crore fine was collected from two lakh people at different locations across the city after they were found not wearing mask.”

“While 50 per cent of the collected fine will go to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the rest of the amount will be used for the police welfare activities,” he said, adding that the drive would continue.
