India records new COVID-19 cases, highest single day spike this year

New Delhi: India recorded 43,846 new coronavirus cases in a day, the single-day rise so far this year. According to the data by Union Health Ministry, the nationwide tally stands at 1,15,99,130.

Registering an increase for the 1tyh day in a row, the total active caseload has increased to 3,09,087 which comprises 2.66 percent of the total infections. On the other hand, the recovery rate has dropped to 95.96 percent.

The daily rise in infections was the highest in 115 days, while the death toll increased to 1,59,755 with 197 daily new fatalities which is the highest in 97 days.
