Assam to ramp up COVID-19 vaccine

Guwahati: In the wake of the coronavirus cases in the country, Assam will double the number of tests from next week, while the daily vaccination target will be 1 lakh. At present, less than 20,000 tests are being done in the state.

A mega vaccination campaign has now been planned across the state on March 23, where 1. 5 lakh people are likely to be vaccinated on a single day through 2000 session sites. Lakshmanan S, Director of National heath Mission, Assam said, ” From next week, we have decide to increase the number of daily tests to 40,000. Simultaneously, a target has been set to achieve one lakh vaccination target daily.”

PM Narendra Modi has sent a cautious note via video conference to the election-bound Assam on Wednesday. officials in the state health department has said that a fresh SOP will come out soon to gear up testing and streamline other modalities.
