Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Assam was marked by a flurry of activity, as he embarked on a journey to bolster infrastructure, inaugurate projects, and immerse himself in the cultural tapestry of the region. Touching down in Tezpur Airport, he was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma before proceeding to the iconic Kaziranga National Park for an overnight stay.

Upon his arrival at Kohora Helipad, PM Modi was greeted by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Atul Bora, setting the tone for a series of significant engagements. The Prime Minister is set to virtually inaugurate, dedicate, and lay foundation stones for projects worth a staggering 18 thousand crore rupees from Jorhat, underscoring the government’s commitment to infrastructural development across the state.

One of the highlights of his visit includes a 16-kilometer roadshow from the makeshift helipad at Panbari in Bokakhat to the Assam Police Guest House at the Kohora range of Kaziranga National Park. Along this route, PM Modi will be greeted by members of Assamese ethnic communities showcasing 36 different traditional dances, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.

During his stay at Kaziranga, the Prime Minister is slated to partake in a two-hour safari within the National Park, offering him a firsthand glimpse of the region’s biodiversity. Additionally, he will be treated to a performance of the renowned folk ballad “Hastir Kanya,” also known as “Elephant’s Daughter,” by the Park Authority, further enriching his cultural experience.

Following his engagements in Assam, PM Modi will journey to Arunachal Pradesh, where he will continue his itinerary with various programs. However, his visit to Assam culminates with a significant event in Jorhat, where he will inaugurate an impressive 84-foot-high statue of the legendary Ahom warrior, Lachit Borphukan, at Hollonga Pathar.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone for key projects, including the Sivasagar Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati, and the Digboi Refinery expansion projects, underscoring the government’s focus on healthcare and economic growth in the region.

As PM Modi’s visit unfolds, it not only signifies the government’s commitment to development but also celebrates the vibrant cultural heritage of Assam. The live telecast of his speeches in panchayats across the state further amplifies the significance of his visit, ensuring that the aspirations and achievements of the government reach every corner of the region.
