First phase assembly elections in Assam and Bengal tomorrow

Guwahati: Campaigning for the first phase of polls in Assam was conducted last evening and voting will be held tomorrow for 47 constituencies. Voters will exercise their right to franchise at more than 11,530 polling booths across the state.


Now it all depends on the voters who will decide the fate of the contesting candidates in the voting process to be held tomorrow. The concerned district administration has set up all necessary polls related structures and polling personnel started their journey to their designated poling stations.


Meanwhile, the police have also intensified patrolling and checking in various places to avoid any unwanted situation. Counting for the Assam assembly election will be held on 2nd May.


Similarly, polling in 30 assembly constituencies of 5 districts of West Bengal under the first phase will take place tomorrow. the districts are: East Medinipur, West Medinipur, Purulia, Jhargram and Bankura. The Election Commission is all set to conduct the polls smoothly by deploying a large number of paramilitary forces to ensure a peaceful and fearless environment for polling.
