BJP expels 15 leaders for filing nomination as independent candidates
Guwahati: State BJP expelled 15 leaders from the party, including former deputy speaker Dilip Kumar Paul for filing nomination as independent candidates. The leaders filed their nomination after being denied tickets from the party.
BJP state general secretary Rajdeep Roy said that the party’s Assam Chief Ranjit Kumar Dass has approved disciplinary action with immediate effect.
BJP is contesting in 92 seats out of 126 seats in Assam Assembly and has left the remaining to its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
The elections in the Legislative assembly will be held in three phases: March 27, April 1 and 6. The counting of votes will be held on May 2.
