“Manas Chaliha’s Controversial Arrest: A Web of Allegations and Denials”

In a dramatic turn of events, Manas Chaliha, accused of fraud, found himself under the scrutiny of the Crime Branch at Kokrajhar Sadar police station before being transferred to Guwahati. The arrest, triggered by suspicions raised in a video released by ULFA-I on February 3, has thrust Chaliha into a whirlwind of controversy.

The video, featuring Manash Borgohain, alleged that Chaliha had recruited him as a police spy for espionage activities, including training women to trap ULFA-I leaders. Chaliha, vehemently denying the charges in a video from hiding, claimed to be an innocent organic farmer with no ties to Borgohain. However, local media reports had already cast doubts on his character, creating a cloud of skepticism.

Amidst the conflicting narratives, Assam Police refuted ULFA-I’s claims, asserting that Borgohain was not a police spy and that Chaliha had no administrative ties. In a letter dated February 1, ULFA-I questioned the lack of action against Chaliha, adding another layer of complexity to this unfolding saga. As the investigation unfolds, the case remains shrouded in mystery, leaving the public to ponder the truth behind the allegations and counterclaims.
