Assam election brings smiles on flower sellers

Guwahati: As garland and bouquets are required for election campaigns and rallies, the sale of flowers are steeping high, bringing smile on the faces of the flower sellers. Be it any political party, flowers find a place in every political rally as garlands and bouquets are used to greet leaders.


Rajeshwar Rai, a flower trader said, “There has been a brisk sale of flowers in this election time. Although the marriage and festival seasons have not begun, there is a high demand for flowers and garlands for political leaders.” Another flower trader said, “The sale of flowers for other functions is low. But there has been a continuous demand for flowers for political events and campaigns. We are happy.”


Elections for the 1236-seat Assam assembly is scheduled to take place in three phase: March 27, April 1 and 6.
